Growing up Canadian-Guyanese, I heard numerous metaphors and old sayings, some were funny as hell; not just because of the heavily accented delivery, but the raw, real and ironic truth with each statement. I was always warned "Nah let nobody talk you name!" 

A firm way of saying 'don't bring shame to this family! Basically, keep your head down and endure what you have to in order to stay out of people's minds and mouths. This sh*t bothers me to my core!
